Post MEPIS Users Forum Poll
This is a simple poll on the new MEPIS Users Forum. Explaining your vote with some detail would be helpful.

It will run for 30 days.

I will start. I voted yes because I find it to have more features and easier to navigate.

I voted yes, because of the many reasons that the forum needed to be migrated, open source, etc, etc. Like the transition I made from MS to Linux, it was different, exasperating at times, but the investment payed off. The benefits of this change will grow on us and after all change is the constant in life. I don't mind exercising my (ahem) mature brain to preserve and grow a few new brain cells. Plus it helps me to combat my OCD.
That's both, OCD and Obsessive Computer Disorder as my wife points out. ;)

cheers,
ohh

I voted "yes." I was going to vote "yes, but . . ." but decided not to taint the quality of my endorsement. The feature I'd like is to have a larger button for going to the first new post in a thread, so it's not a fault so much as a niggle.

I voted yes, although I could have been a 'Yes, but'. I'm gradually finding my way around the options. I miss seeing the number of unread posts when I login, so I don't have any idea of how long I'll spend cathing up. I find the increased length of the index a bit of a pain - scrolling down to topics takes longer.

I think the user experience is an improvement overall, despite my few niggles.

I see arjaybe has posted similarly while I've been thinking!

We are in the process of paring down the index. it will be implemented soon, after trials on the test forum. We do not want to lose any posts.

I voted yes because of the future possibilities. The modifications available and easy update of software. The new forum can be used for a very long time.

I chose your third option, "Will learn to like it with more familiarity".
It's not that I don't like it, I do, but things are different, and I'm still figuring some stuff out.
An example would be the new news feed lists all posts, where the old forum news feed would just list the new threads. Now it takes a bit more to wade through it all, but I am not missing new posts on older threads. It works, just in a different manner. I haven't decided which I like better, but we're not going back, so I'm learning the new manner.

I do appreciate the desire to move to something new and the reasons outlined several times elsewhere. And I commend those that undertook such a venture.

Al
