logitech headset and skype stopped talking

#1 Postby moksha » Tue Dec 29, 2009 1:16 am

I have been successfully using this combination on the laptop for about a year, yesterday it stopped working. Skype finds 5 instances of the logitech headset and I have tried all of them with no luck. I tried the headset and Skype on the other puter and it worked perfectly. It was working perfectly just after booting the laptop, then it stopped, I had not done any upgrades, normally it selects the right instance of the headset itself. I have tried resetting the sound devices in the skype options menu with no luck. The sound and the mic are not working, any suggestions.
*******EDIT*******

I think this is a variation on murphie's law, I wrestled with this for hours and finally posted, within 2 minutes of posting I find the problem a mic switch was off in kmix, (I had only checked all the switches at least 10 times) what I want to know is how did it turn itself off with skype set to automatically adjust mixer levels, and it was not touched between the last successful call and the subsequent failure

That's a mean sense of humor....
Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.
