No Sound (but have driver) on Aspire 9300

[color="DarkGreen"]I built my Acer Aspire 9300 with Mepis 8.5 and am still having troubles getting sound to work. According to my multimedia specs, this is defaulting to HDA NVidia (ALC883 Analog). Kmix shows the driver being active and all the volume levels are up (also checked with alsamix). I downloaded and installed ALSACONF and reset the audio specs; still nothing. Is there something I should hard-code in the Modeprobe.d "conf." file?[/color]
