Video now eats up CPU on EEE PC M8.5

 Video now eats up CPU on EEE PC M8.5 [Solved]>>> EEE PC 900 (Celeron) running MEPIS 8.5
It has never been a speed demon with M8.5, but everything worked. Now at some point in the past 2-3 months I have video issues where the video causes 100% CPU and degrades performance: Examples: - Kplayer plays video files choppy (but Vlc plays videos OK ??) - Skype video works but causes the audio to cut out (audio OK with video off) because CPU spikes. Composting is off. I re-ran sgfxi to install the intel video driver. Suggestions what to look at next ? Cheers |

Actually I meant kmplayer; and also performance seems to depend on the particular video file. Anyway, here is konsole output from kmplayer - ( doesn't seem to give clues):
Anywho.... I did re-run sgfxi and it looked like it pulled some new intel drivers and xserver stuff in. Now skype seems to behave (still CPU is at or near 100%) --- but at least audio wasn't breaking up in my limited testing while doing video. kmplayer seems to behave better also. Pending on more testing I'll mark as solved ! ...Of course the real solution is to upgrade the EeePC 900  but I'm holding out as long as I can. |
