 nvidia install loose end?
After running sgfxi what is the command to startx? I tried both the options I saw, quit and start-desktop. also tried startx. I ended up doing a hard reboot which worked. I'd like to add this to my how to folder. Thanks sawer

 Re: nvidia install loose end?
When sgfxi runs it should give the option at the end of the installation of the nvidia driver. See: http://smxi.org/for some documentation.

 Re: nvidia install loose end?
Ordinarily the 1) Start Desktop works. You just press 1 <enter> and X starts up.
However your starting situation wasn't quite typical. If the regular option to start desktop didn't work I would try /etc/init.d/kdm restart
If that didn't work, I would try a reboot by typing reboot <enter> since it's already a root prompt.
Occasionally on ATI cards sgfxi has to be run twice for it to work.
