Re: MEPIS 10.9.90 beta #2 released - bug reports & feedback
I just finished my 4th install: AMD with nvidia chip and nvidia video, I had to use the nvidia selection to boot the usb this time and added vga-794 + rootdelay=10, install to root all went good. Intel system with ATI video, I used the unetbootin selection and added vga-794, installed to root, all went good. Intel laptop with Intel video, I used the unetbootin selection, I let it boot the default, did not change to vga= on this one, installed to root, all went good.

Is it possible that machine's bios is set to UTC and you didn't tell the installer that where prompted?

I'm using local Los Angeles, CA time and all four installs are showing the correct time. If you have any other systems installed they must all have the time set the same, using the same local, if not you will have the time screwed booting from one system to another and that includes Windows and PCLOS too.

I'm not telling you that you have bad hardware, but that sounds like a hardware problem, maybe install Squeeze using the one kde-cd and install KDE 4.5.3 http://qt-kde.debian.net/ and later when Mepis 11.0 goes final add the Mepis sources and then do the upgrade to Mepis final or maybe just upgrade your hardware.

No thank you, I don't want to do all that.-) Once booted it installed fine and runs well on this hardware. Beta one I used a unetbootin USB stick and had results like yours, but this time I decided to test the DVD way. Other than the [glaring] boot problem, it was easy.

OK, so let's start over, if you can boot a usb you should be able to boot a dvd. So the dvd won't boot at all? Or after you make a selection and hit the enter key the file system can't be found on the dvd? Or is it something else?

I tested Beta 2 (32Bit) on my netbook Toshiba NB-100. DVD booted fine (default option and Classic option) from an external USB DVD drive. Unfortunately, no compositing there, either . However, it caught my wireless connection without a problem and presented no audio issues.

Re: MEPIS 10.9.90 beta #2 released - bug reports & feedback
1. used hybridiso and dd to copy the image to a USB flash drive. 2. booted with Nvidia, usual MEPIS install (took 2 minutes or less!) 3. At boot my drives got mixed up, so I needed to change (hd1,4) to (hd0,4) but that's probably a quirk of my BIOS setup, I know that at some point I switch the primary drive from BIOS... so I was kind of expecting this. 4. Everything seems to be working fine.
PLEASE disable "Sliding popups" from Desktop Effects, they are excruciatingly slow, don't know why... I see that I have 3D acceleration. Other than that, it's the usual quirks of the installer, although I disable smb, ppp, cups they still start at boot.
