I don't use it either. First thing I do, is to disable eyecandy.
This is only to make MEPIS look pretty in the eyes of journalists.
You don't want to read reviews about the scrolling white text (that's not present in other distros).

We can use the original 1920x1080 wallpaper. But for the users with normal ratio screens it will look more distorted.

I think we're good. I have started a Wiki entry, and we can add user tweaks to that including that screen.

Following these instructions in this thread, I like the splashy, but not so crazy about the log in screen. Something about welcome to debian meips 11, plain blue background. Once logged in, plain blue screen and white konsole. Not too impressed. No progress bar etc. System is somewhat borked. If I get a chance, I'll try next week.

Have radeon/ati HD4670.

I see there is another thread now.

If you have time right now, could you try following those directions please? Your description of what you saw does not match anything I have seen, so I am confused.

Forgive me if I am off base here, I just briefly scanned through this thread. But I think if Plymouth works best with this wallpaper, it should be changed.

Personally I like this wall paper better than the underwater one and I would love to see it used as the replacement. I think this one has a more professional and polished look to it. If I'm not mistaken both are from the same artist so hopefully there would be no hard feelings about it. But in the end it is art and personal opinions are subjective. If its not too much work I would probably change my personal boot splash to this artwork anyway. Although that does become a pain on multiple systems.

Plymouth works well with the underwater wallpaper as well. Since these are personal preferences, and easily changed, no further changes are contemplated.
