tftp server

Here you can ask questions about how to set up servers in MEPIS and ask about software and hardware related to it. You can post tutorials relating to this, also.

tftp server

#1 Postby Centurion030 » Fri May 15, 2009 12:04 am

Hello,

Has anyone here setup their Mepis install as a tftp server? I'd like to be able to copy configs to and from my Cisco gear and also upgrade the IOS when needed.

Regards,

Code: Select all

apt-get install tftpd

What did you mean by IOS? An ISO?

IOS (Internetwork Operating System) is the software used on the Cisco router or late model switch.

Should have been more explicit: install and setup tftp server in Mepis8. I am used to Solarwinds TFTP server on Win2003/XP to do this.

tftp server

I haven't done a tftp server, but I had a Debian box set up as a ftp server until a very recent hardware failure. A quick search in Synaptic shows several possibilities with the suspected "tftp" search parameter.

HTH, and don't hesitate to post back with a more specific question!

Lots of tutorial info here:
http://www.techenclave.com/open-source-and-linux/complete-debian-linux-server-setup-tutorial-66863.html

Or you can check some of the other links from this query:
http://www.google.ca/linux?hl=en&q=tftp+setup+debian+&btnG=Search&meta=

Most people seem to run it via inetd; see /etc/inetd.conf.
