I click on a specific url and the website on my local host displays.

I've dumped my browser cache but no change.

I type in the url into two different browser address bars and my local host homepage appears.

What browser? What OS?
Have you tried removing with configs and reinstalling? Backup your Bookmarks first!

Just a stab in the dark, but did you check your /etc/hosts file? When a browser is "hijacked," it generally involves bogus entries in this file.

All of my network related config files look fine.

I decided to change the Network Configuration Mode in the MEPIS Network Assistant from Automatic (networkmanager) to Manual (mnetwork) and the problem went away.
