 a lot of games don't run in wineHello!
I started using Wine, I configured it correctly and I started installing games like this: I copied whole CD content to wine directory, I ran installer from it, installed it and when I started the game (e.g. Syberia), it did nothing... And it is not the only case... The only game that was capable running fine is DeusEx. Any ideas? According to WineHq, Syberia should work fine... I just don't know where's the problem... Thank you  |

Welcome to the MEPIS Forums!
When you make a post like that, you've gotta learn to tell us what VERSION (of Wine, in this case) you are running! There was some discussion of similar problems on Wine, back a few months ago. Some of us had better luck using a much older version of Wine (i.e. 1.0.1) rather than some of the newer. Details on that thread is here: http://mepislovers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18149 Look at some of the last replies on that thread. That said, when I more recently installed the 1.1.35 version posted here: http://mepislovers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24310 it seems to fix most of the issues that I was having with games under Wine. According to Winehq 1.0.1 & 1.1.17 seem to work with the game, but if you are using the version from the community repo (1.1.27), you might be having issues as cookdav was mentioning.
I normally use reproduced wine products (cedega, cxgames), but I just recently found PlayOnLinux and it looks like it has some potential. Good luck! |
