Re: Think Tanks - .bin file installation???
Hi All, Well I decided to follow the same procedures in Mint 10 that I used to get TT installed but not yet running in Mepis Alpha 4 and it worked. I can only assume it has to do with the display interface. (Gnome vs. KDE???) Anyway, I am happy it's running but I would prefer it to be doing so in the Mepis distro.
Thanks again for everyone's assistance.
Jeff

Re: Think Tanks - .bin file installation???
Jeff Sorry - am on holiday this week - so not near my MEPIS box. When I get home, I'll install a clean environment and try and walk through the steps I used.

Re: Think Tanks - .bin file installation???
Jeff - here we go ..... Brand new install M11 32b Beta1 - from a usb key - specs as per my sig. Here's exactly what I did ...... - Booted from live USB - selected nvidia xorg-config from grub
- Installed on spare partition
- Rebooted
- Booted into install - started synaptic, and upgraded all packages
- Rebooted after upgrade - probably didn't need to but there was an xserver upgrade, and I wanted to be sure
- After reboot, checked nvidia driver still working OK by opening konsole and running
- Downloaded demo (ThinkTanksDemo_v1.1.sh.bin)
- Created a directory /home/brooko/games (ie basically preparation for the install). Did this in Dolphin.
- Went to download directory in Dolphin, started a konsole from that directory (shift+F4), and ran the installer with
- Chose to install to:
- Didn't install symbolic link or worry about menu items - they don't work anyway.
- At end of install - don't choose to run direct - it just gives you that libgtk missing error
- Closed konsole, and navigated (using Dolphin) to /home/brooko/games/ThinkTanksDemo
- Clicked on the thinktanksdemo shell script to run it
- Game started, changed my res, away laughing
Jeff - I can't think of how to explain it any simpler than that. Hope this helps.

Hi Brooko,
Simple is good, thanks. I hope to give it a shot again in the next few days and will let you know the result. (TT server is down for the last week or so anyway so no rush at the moment.) Thanks again.
