Changes afoot at Transgaming

#1 Postby Saist » Fri Jan 07, 2011 3:01 pm

http://www.cedega.com/

CEDEGA ANNOUNCEMENT

TransGaming is pleased to announce the continued development of Cedega Technology under the GameTree Developer Program. Although this repositioning brings the Cedega Gaming Service to a close, Cedega as a technology for the Linux gaming community will continue to be available as an active and invested toolset through the GameTree Developer Program. The Cedega Gaming Service will be available for active Members until February 28, 2011, at which time a free GameTree Dev ID will be required to gain access to the Cedega powered Linux desktop technology through the GameTree Developer Program. More information can be found here.

So, basically, everything is being moved to http://gametreelinux.com/ and the financial cost is being dropped.

My gut reaction is that Transgaming is doing this because they've had far more success as a background developer working on Cider ports and with GameTree than they have had selling Cedega directly.

your account was probably actually created.

if you go back and try to login, you'll find that it seems to be working... on a limited basis.

The site(s) seem to be in a transition phase right now.

As best as I can tell at this point: No.

It seems to be that there will be a code release Soon(tm).

I've sent Transgaming a list of questions over the conversion, but I don't know when (or if) they'll respond.

I'm going to share part of an email I have from Transgaming.

As long term supporters of TransGaming and our Cedega technology we wanted to take this time to inform you that the Cedega Gaming Service is coming to a close in its current incarnation, and will cease operation as of February 28, 2011. While it is never easy to turn the page on such a revolutionary service, we are excited by the possibilities to come as we retool Cedega into a different offering. Please be assured, Cedega as a technology is not being retired, but rather, it is evolving into a new enablement technology for the Linux desktop. Among other reasons, the current Cedega gaming service is ending due to the withdrawal of our e-commerce payment provider, WorldPay, who will be terminating their service for Canadian companies such as TransGaming effective January 31, 2011.

I'm awaiting permission from Gav and/or Transgaming Staff to share the rest of the contents of that email.
