Post Disable my touchpad under XFCE (Mepis 11RC1)
Hi Folks,

I'm trying out XFCE and I like the simplicity. My only gripe so far is that I cannot disable the touchpad using XFCE's settings.

I can see that the KDE System Settings control panel is still available under Settings > System Settings. I can go down to the Touchpad under lost&found (I installed the Synaptics touchpad config for kde), but when I select it I get a message:

Warning: The synaptiks daemon is not running.

So it looks like I need to get this daemon running when XFCE comes up or find another way to disable the touchpad. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Chris

Re: Disable my touchpad under XFCE (Mepis 11RC1)
hi,

booted into M11... 64 xfce at the moment, but with one of my desktops...

within the xfce4 settings manager, there is a section, session and startup.

i would advise caution while using this section :) have seen it just 'throw a temper tantrum' on repeated ocasions. actually, one of the first things that i do is to open it and untick all the opptions that appear on the first tab, general. second tab i also leave blank, not particurlary fond of their splashes, although you might enjoy them :). third tab might prove interisting to you, autostart . next up would be session, where you can manually save, like kde. so if you do not want it running at startup, don't have it open when you save your session. finale tab is pretty self explanitory, mine's blank right now but that might change, you can see which direction we would probably lean ;). upon re-reading your post the fifth tab advanced might provide the assistance that you are looking for. once again extra careful with the first one <ohh> :smiley2:.

good luck

post back, somebody will help out
