I wouldn't want to count the time (over 1,000 hours into the Manual alone) and money I have put into it over the last 6 years--just b/c I believe in it for some weird reason.

folks, be glad people are complaining - it's a sign that they care about the product.
i donate my time, cause i can't afford a monetary donation right now, to helping others on this forum and i would hope that the recent outage serves as another hint that the hosting service that is being used needs a rethink.
i'm sure others are thinking the same, and the recent outage bears no indication to anyone's dedication to this site or mepis. sh** happens.
from a marketing standpoint, having outages like this does a lot of damage to the mepis brand but i would say how the issue is resolved effects the brand as well.
so, as annoying as it is to not have access to the forums - ok, it can be like having the dt's - i would hope that everyone can work together to find a solution.
i would also suggest that there be some sort of method for service outages/issues to be reported to help address any issue that may occur outside of the normal east coast, U.S. business hours.

Maybe I am too mellow. A couple days of down time here is very low on my list of things to get upset about.

Since I love the 'idea' of Mepis I guess I'll put up with the occasional glitch here and there.
Don't misunderstand, I'd prefer that everything be working....OS, website, etc. but understand that not everything will always be as I'd like. Kinda like a good marriage.

did anyone else have problems accessing the forum today around 12/12:30 pm EST?
i tried for about 30 minutes, each time being prompted with a server unresponsive error in firefox. not sure how long the issue was there because i went to run some errands...
my internet connectivity to other sites was unaffected.

I'm having problems now.
And despite what adrian says hardware failures and power outages are not 'unforeseen circumstances'. These are things that a proper hosting service should have systems in place for dealing with.
