Either is fine from my point of view. I actually prefer the yellow highlight personally.

We evidently need an official rule since there are some who have not read the previous statements concerning red.

And Red internationally means Danger, Stop, which is why on most forums it is used to signify an action that is liable to render a box usless,

i've no problem with red, but as i pointed out in another thread red is the color that is used to highlight search terms whenever you perform a forum search. if red is to be reserved for the oft chance of a mod action then i would suggest changing the color that is used in forum search results to perhaps the yellow highlight.

yes, i know that i should know the terms that i am searching for therefore i shouldn't be confused, but the purpose of highlighting the search terms in resultsets is to make it easier to see the occurrences of the term(s).

Bottom line is that you should know that you are searching also. I fail to see the problem.

This might not be a problem: however, here goes. I have my own website. It concerns metalworking & machining. When I would update a page or article, I would announce it with UPDATEand proceed with the writeup. I received a couple of comments from color blind folks who said that it was nearly impossible for them to read. I changed it to a dark orange and they reported it was OK.

Use the dark red. I have been using it on another forum for years, works perfectly.

I would prefer the highlight, but would certainly agree with anything you choose. There are good reasons not to use red, as some have pointed out.

For those of us who are color blind, the red is much harder to see, sometimes impossible. Highlighted or a very bold text can be read. Thank you for asking.

Cool, thanks for that.

I'm gonna TRY to remember (mostly) now to use BOLD-ing, from now on.

[One extra thing I like about BOLD is the markup for it
is very short and sweet, if you decide the put the markups
in MANUALLY, rather than with the clickable 'aids'.] :smiley2:

While I prefer red, the issue for those color blind is valid. I wish there was an alternative to highlighting however. It does not seem to me to be enough of an attention getter. How about preceding the actual text with a header:
