Brooko, Thanks for all the hard work and time and patience. Please don't go too far.
I've wanted to try some packaging and actually about two weeks ago I even set up a vbox in preparation, but now I'm traveling for nearly a month.. oh well..eventually....
Since I'm usually in Japan and up when American is sleeping, I could help keep an eye out for spammers when I'm near a computer. I did the same thing (a limited duty spam mod) on Linspire forums. Let me know if I could help.
Cheers

Well there are several fresh registrations today with user names of dubious credibility - I'd hazard a guess the most of their registration IP's are listed in stopforumspam.org ;-)

Brooko,
You brought continuity, progress, leadership and foresight to a community that was sorely in need. My only hope is that we can continue to build upon the foundation that you have created.
You have my utmost respect and admiration (a statement that I do not make lightly). I stand by my original assertion that you cannot be replaced.
I wish you nothing but the best. You have certainly earned it. I'd like to shake your hand and buy you a beer. We are in your debt.
My deepest regards,
Q

Make sure Google is selected as the search engine in firefox,
(top right)
highlight the name, right click, Google search, if the name is recognised as spam it will show in the first page with a link to stopforumspam.org.
This is something all members can do, if you get one that comes up as spam, foreword the link to a mod, it saves them work.

Excellent choices.
Hopefully they will survive the initiation ceremony.

If only it were so simple! Many spammers (be they bots of individuals) will choose a username that doesn't get a Google hit. It is their IP/email address that is more often the culprit, and that info is only available to mods...
