user access to flash drive - AntiX 11
Hi i just did my first install of AntiX on a friend of mines old laptop after he tried the live CD session & liked what he saw. however, i did the install last night & followed up with the dist-upgrades as were posted on the AntiX forum site. there were a couple of miner problems, but i am sure that they can easily be ironed out. however, i have one MAJOR problem...that is after mounting a flash drive using "Mountbox", the user, or any apps do not have permissions to access any files on the flash drive. also, i cannot seem to find a way to run a gui file manager in root mode to change the permissions on the directories in the "Media" directory that udev created for the flash drive. the way AntiX is set up now, flash drives are only available to root, making them useless. what do i need to do to fix this.

Have you tried what is suggested in this thread? Particularly the As root rename /etc/udev/rules.d/99-usbstorage.rules.unused to 99-usbstorage.rules http://antix.freeforums.org/post23431.h ... /90#p23431

Thanks for the response. after doing that & reading the post in the link that you posted, it worked. i did not know that the mountbox app in the menu was different then the one found on the panel under "Control Center" /disks/mount connected devices. that one was always bringing up the dialog box asking for the root password.

That one in the control centre does indeed prompt for root password, New version of antiX will not do this.
