I tried unetbootin, and for some reason it won't let me do the chmod, both as user and as root. I get permission denied! that's why I am looking for an alternative method! Thanks

I have not tried "LinuxLive USB Creator" yet, but it might work for you if you have an XP or W7 machine.

I tried unetbootin and it didn't work for me ...... I tried syslinux as well, and it didn't work either ...... I guess I'll have to keep muddling along! I'm having trouble with my terminal application not working now as well - this whole Debian (as well as my antix) install is going down the tubes, I sure hope it isn't the computer!
