 HP 3050 won't install
I'm trying out AntiX (AntiX-M11-686) for my wife's laptop. All OK except for the printer (I'm testing it all in VB).
CUPS and localhost:631 can't see it at all (wireless and USB connected). HP print manager detects the printer, but then there's a CUPS backend failure, or can't find some file under /usr etc.
I deleted all HP and CUPS stuff I could find with synaptic, rebooted, and used the metapackage to install. No different. I've also just fallen for a 630MB major update - no different. I've taken every step I've taken under SM11 to install HP-LIP and associated packages >3.11 etc, but to no avail.
AntiX print manager sometimes let me select the printer (3 choices of the same printer), but clicking Apply did nothing...
What have I missed?
Cheers

 Re: HP 3050 won't install
If you are testing in VB then you need to use VB to connect to the printer. In a real install the printer will be picked up automatically if I remember correctly. Someone will chime in if that's not the case. But I never had to install a printer with a real install of antiX, beyond using localhost:631 that is.

 Re: HP 3050 won't install
Many thanks for that, lucky9. I'm not sure initially how to do that, but I'll give it a crack. Cheers Edit: sorted. In VM menu Devices --> USB devices - tick HP3050. Instant printing. Cheers

I'd have looked it up if you hadn't found it. But forgetting we're in a virtual machine is something all of us (well most anyway) have done.
