Post Google Contacts and M11
This is very cool! After having no luck by searching the web, I simply went to Synaptic and searched on "Google." Found and installed the package below, and now I sync Google Contacts with the M11 desktop so it can be used anywhere in the system.

Could someone please step through this to review it for the Manual:

<li>Log out and back in to restart KDE</li>

<li>Use the pull-down menu to select Contacts, then click Add...</li>
<li>Highlight Personal Contacts > Manage Address Book Sources > Add...</li>
<li>HighlightAkonadi Google Contacts Resource > OK</li>
<li>Provide account info > OK</li>
<li>Click out to return to the Configure KDE Resources page</li>
<li>Highlight and click the Use as Standard button if that is what you want.</li>
</ul>
Have similar copy for Calendar coming.

Did you try actually doing it on a M11 install and see if it works?

I install following the directions. I do not use Kmail, but opened it and all my contacts were there.

I think there may be a typo...shouldn't it be "install akonadi-kde-resource-googledata"?

...instead of "install akonadi-kde-resource-google"

EDIT: yup. The window's title bar was not wide enough to catch it all.

Ok, I tried this on M11b2...I may be doing something wrong, but what I saw after installing "akonadi-kde-resource-googledata" did not match the instructions:

When I get to the Configure KDE Resources menu and I follow the instructions: "Use the pull-down menu to select Contacts, then click Add..." I get a dialog box with the following choices:
-Akonadi Address Books (Provides access to contact stored in Akonadi address book folders)
-Folder (Provides access to contacts....etc.)
-LDAP (Provides access to contact....yada..yada.)
-Network (Provides....)

What am I missing?

you click the first choice. Then click "manage address book sources " in the next window that opens.
