New Manual section on Bluetooth file transfer
I am part way through revising the M11 Manual, and have added a new section on file BT transfer: | | | | Quote: File transfer. File transfer to and from a handheld device is enabled by virtue of ObexFTP, an application and library with many language bindings to access mobile phone and other handheld content. Host to handheld device: --Make the handheld discoverable, if necessary --On the host computer, right-click the BT icon in the System Tray > Manage devices. Add your device if it is not already there, and click the Trust button below --Right-click the BT icon again > Receive files configuration. Make sure the Enable box is checked, and decide where you want the files to go (e.g., ~/Downloads) --Right-click the BT icon one last time > Send File. Navigate to the file you want to send and click Next. On the device screen, make sure the device you want to send to is present, and rescan if necessary. Highlight the device and click Next. --On the device, accept the transfer of the file. Handheld to host: --Check that the host is visible to the handheld. --Navigate to the file you want to send, and use the method appropriate for the particular device to send it. --When the transfer notification pops up on the host, click Accept | | | | |
I would appreciate someone testing it on a clean install, 32 and 64 bit. Also welcome any editing suggestions. TIA

Re: New Manual section on Bluetooth file transfer
It works on 64 bit..kinda (transfer from Mepis to phone but not from phone to Mepis). I can see the folders on the phone but not the contents. The contents are unprotected so they should transfer via bluetooth.

You can't transfer from the phone to the desktop? Did you go through the first steps in Host to handheld?

Re: New Manual section on Bluetooth file transfer
Retried it using your instructions. After the third or fouth time it found the file and I gave the ok to transfer and then the app crashed. Edit: I followed the Handheld to Host not the other way around. Plus I noticed there was no popup asking to accept or not. In the system tray there's the icon which tells me there's an ongoing job and that's it.

Re: New Manual section on Bluetooth file transfer
I can send from the computer to my blackberry, but not from the blackberry to the computer. I've been able to do it in the past with Mepis 8 and the same phone, so it's not the phone. Blue Devil crashed on me also. I restarted it, and the BlackBerry says it can't find anything, even though they did pair successfully, and each has been told to trust the other.

Always been the same experience, but substitute a Samsung E2215B.

Re: New Manual section on Bluetooth file transfer
@Jerry3904...ok, I got it to work in both directions...finally. I'm using a cheap Samsung GT-S3370 but I got a Blackberry I can try out a little latter. Ci vuole un po di pazienza.

Re: New Manual section on Bluetooth file transfer
Still no luck, computer can find blackberry, blackberry can't find computer. Both are set for always visible, just to make it easier. Computer can send, blackberry can't. Is it possible I need to install another package or something? I'm not finding anything about that in the desktop users manual or the wiki, but in M8, I did install packages from synaptic, so maybe there is something I haven't installed?

Don't think so, but am going to do some more testing here.
