Mepis 8.5 on a Compaq N160 Laptop

Here you can post about what you did to get MEPIS to work right with your computer or if hardware worked right out of the box for you. This is for the computers and/or hardware that is normally hard to get working right in Linux or MEPIS.

Mepis 8.5 on a Compaq N160 Laptop

#1 Postby maxpro4u » Wed Jul 06, 2011 3:22 pm

I have been distro hopping for a year now. Mepis 8.5 is the only one so far that just worked. I have an older Compaq N-160 that has a 1.13 Ghz P3 processor and 512mb of ram. One of the biggest problems is scaling and none of the others worked "out of the box" like mepis did-it runs much cooler and no lock-ups like many of the others.
