Truecrypt

#1 Postby cgriffin » Wed Apr 11, 2012 7:51 pm

HI All,

Is truecrypt in any of the CR's? I looked but could not find it.
If not, it seems like a good tool, would someone be willing to build it for us?

Thanks,
Chris

it's not the first time someone has requested this...

the short answer is no, and it won't be. the licensing for truecrypt prevents it from being repackaged.

Instructions to install on Mepis 8.5 is in the wiki. http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php?title=Truecrypt
If you try and succeed on M11, please update the wiki or let us know.

I already added a bit on why it is not in repos based on GoManutd's response.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies. I downloaded the install script from the truecrypt website, it was a shell script that had the binary stuffed in at the end of it, very strange. Anyways, I executed it as root and it installed lickety split, no apparent issues and it seems to be working fine. I looked at the Mepis 8.5 instructions, they are essentially what I did and it worked fine.

I tried logging into the Wiki but my login from this forum wouldn't work, it's not apparent to me how to get an account over there. Any clues...?

I do not administer the wiki. I think Jerry3904 is still handling that.

Then it may take a while as he's out of town for the week I believe.
