 Re: Mepis-11.0 Trinity
I thought the only one that put anything up on DistroWatch was Ladislav. And even then any release announcement needed to come from the developer or from a verifiable link from the distro's website.

 Re: Mepis-11.0 Trinity
I can only hope a Trinity remaster is forthcoming, it is something i would like to use on a 512 6 year old desktop system. I am also certain there are a number of laptop in this memory range that might also be ready for this Mepis remaster.

 Re: Mepis-11.0 Trinity
I would also like to see a Trinity remaster. I do like KDE 4 but it's too heavy for some machines I'd like to put Linux on and M-8 is essentially at end of support. I know there are other good options - I'd just rather use a distro I'm already comfortable with.

 Re: Mepis-11.0 Trinity
Chiming in with my hope that a Trinity remaster is created... I like all of the serious names offered, and will also suggest Triad Linux as another option.
To answer some of the snark: there's no nostalgia involved in my case, as KDE 4.0 & 3.5.x were my first Linux environments. I just vastly preferred 3.5.x at the time and like them equally now, especially given my laptop is now 7 years old. Not everyone feels the latest is automatically the greatest, or that older creations are inferior.

 Re: Mepis-11.0 Trinity
A worthwhile project. I attempted to install an earlier version of Trinity with Mepis 8 but it didn't work. I now have Trinity 3.5.13 working with debian 6.0.4 and have no problems. I compile the newest stable kernels (now 3.3.5) and newest nvidia drivers (now 295.49) and my system (Pentium D 3.0) is running faster than it did when it was new. Nothing else would be as fast for the basic (for me all-important) stuff like file management. I would choose a name that reflected the future, not the past. Smaller and faster is good.

 Re: Mepis-11.0 Trinity
It looks like Danums gone cold on this remaster and possibly Mepis in general because we haven't seen or heard anything from him since his last post on this thread. I hope not because he's one of the great hackers that in some way, shape or form help to make Linux what it has become.

I for one hope all is well with Danum and that he finds the time and inclination to continue...
