 Thunderbird extensions for Google
Am I the last person on the planet to discover that there exist Thunderbird extensions that 1) install a Google Calendar tab, and 2) sync with Gmail contacts?
These are extremely useful, and solve a lot of syncing problems. I think that I am going to deep-six Kmail for business use when I go with M 11 for good...

Maybe ;-)
I've been using lightning with thunderbird and the Google provider plug in for managing my calendars for several years now.

I use Iceowl-extension with the google provider stuff, works well. I have also used Iceowl stand alone as well, same result. If you like Kmail then just use the stand alone app.

 Re: Thunderbird extensions for Google
Not sure I follow. I do use Kmail as a stand-alone, but it has no integration with Google contacts (despite promises in the past) and that is a big problem with my Droid. TB's ability to have both Google features at hand is what I was trying to say now makes me lean toward abandoning the whole KDE PIM group when I switch to M11 for good.

What I meant was to install iceowl along side Kmail if that's what you prefer. It will not sync contacts though just the calender.
There is a google contacts sync extension available though for TB/Icedove.
