Best way to update LibreOffice in M11
One of the M11 workstations at my workplace has received a .docx file that won't open in the stock LO v3.4.3 from the MEPIS repos. I suspect the document was created in MS Office 2012.
Before I throw in the towel I'd like to try updating the version of LO that this machine (and mine, for that matter) is running. A quick look doesn't seem to show a .deb file or dedicated repo available.
Just curious as to what you folks think the best approach would be for me to take.

I can confirm that LO 3.6.3 does open docx files This is on Chakra so I can't say exactly how to upgrade in Mepis.

Re: Best way to update LibreOffice in M11
Never have had a problem with .docx files until this one. It's big and cumbersome and complicated and full of fillable fields. This comes from our environmental compliance consultant, and they're notorious for upgrading to the latest and greatest as soon as it hits; that's why I'm guessing it was done in Office 2012 or whatever the absolute newest thing is. Jerry's reply jogged my memory where I've got enough to go on now. Looks to be a bit of a PITA to do the upgrade, what with having to manually remove everything ahead of time.

That's what I gathered from this: viewtopic.php?p=290114#p290114Perhaps that's been resolved? Not had time to study it in depth.

I just let apt-get/Syaptic do its thing, and have had no problems recently.

Okay. Something made me think there was more to it. Didn't you have trouble with going from v3.4>3.5?

Yes, but I believe all that is ancient history now. I currently have 3.6.3.2 (Build ID: 58f22d5) installed.

Good for you, but the repo does not seem to contain 64-bit versions?
