Re: The mepis.org home page for M11 release
My apologies Jerry. I'm the one being a jerk. Heck, I even had my wife in tears yesterday I was so critical of tiny things she was trying to do to help out, and the same thing probably applies to others around me lately.
You're one of the hardest working community members I've seen, and it never ceases to amaze me how much effort you put into to helping out with all aspects of mepis, soliciting comments, updating docs, etc. etc. etc. So, please ignore my attitude. It's my problem.
That's why it's probably better if I just don't post here at all for a while, as I'm probably just going to upset others for no good reason.
You're doing a great job.

Website design for Mepis 11 release is good to go! Do we have an anticipated date on when it will officially hit the streets???

Re: The mepis.org home page for M11 release
I see that the lettering has all been changed to uppercase, which does make it more readable (and less appealing), but full uppercase is not what I was suggesting. What I believe is required is the text kerning be adjusted for this list block of text with some css like the following to space out the letters just a little bit.
<span style=”letter-spacing: 2px”>something in here</span>
changing the character spacing is as easy as changing the number of pixels between the letters, and by default, it looked like the default (no kerning) uses 1 pixel for the lower case text.

Re: The mepis.org home page for M11 release
Missed this, sorry: The distinction I was trying to make was between 1) final tweaking of a design that had already gone through the development process and securing Warren's approval, or 2) starting again with a new design. For the first, it seemed appropriate to ask for final adjustments over a 3-day period. For the second, I see insufficient time before the release (tonight or tomorrow)--and impossible for me personally, because I have to be in the field for much of the rest of this week.

Re: The mepis.org home page for M11 release
Great job.
You (all of you) have done a great job with this. So you are not going to get criticism from here.
For down the road I'd suggest that the News section be only the last year or so (This has been something that I've thought about every time I visit mepis.org) and the rest of the space be used for excerpts from reviews of current releases. There can be a link to older news just like there is now. The reviews can be submitted here on the forum in a thread that asks for them. Usually, if I understand things correctly, copyright isn't a problem if a link to the review that is quoted is provided.
Again, it looks great!
I'm sure all of us are quite proud of all of you, but special mention of Jerry3904 for taking the responsibility for this project and putting the team together. Thank you
