Mepis 8.5 Community Repo: The Abiword Thread

#1 Postby Stevo » Sat May 29, 2010 3:40 pm

Update, 13 July 2010: I got tired of waiting for Debian to add 2.8.6, so built it from a PPA I found, after verifying that the "guts" of the debian folder were still the same as Debian's.

Please let us know how it works so it can migrate to main...2.8.2 was purged in favor of this version.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Abiword 2.8.2 is now in the main test repo, along with the grammar and mathview plugins. The mathview plugin has a dependency on ttf-lyx fonts, which will be available when Brooko adds that to 8.5, or you can get the package from packages.debian.org or the 8.0 test CR.
Please give this a test and let us know how it works so we can migrate it to main. Thanks!
abiword - 2.8.6-1mlrepo1
Version: 2.8.6-1mlrepo1
Section: editors
Architecture: 32bit and 64bit
Description:
AbiWord is a full-featured, efficient word processing application.
It is suitable for a wide variety of word processing tasks, and
is extensible with a variety of plugins.
This package includes many of the available import/export plugins allowing
AbiWord to interact with ODT, WordPerfect, and other formats. It also
includes tools plugins, offering live collaboration with AbiWord users
on Linux and Windows (using TCP or Jabber/XMPP), web translation and
dictionary support, and more.
Additional plugins that require significant amounts of extra software to
function are in the various abiword-plugin-* packages.
#4 Postby janthree » Thu Jul 15, 2010 1:47 am
Hey Stevo,
Abiword 2.8.6 looks good...solved the Format>Create and Modify Styles crash. Been using it for a couple of hours...no problems.
Thanks for the quick response and all the hard work you do for Mepis.
I came to Casablanca for the waters.
The waters? What waters? We're in the desert.
I was misinformed.
Bump: new mlrepo2 version of abiword 2.8.6 (still not in upstream Debian) built against the newer libgoffice-0.8 that Gnumeric required, now in test repo.
