I added this KDE 4 servicemenu: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Dropbox+ServiceMenu?content=124416Just extract the source tarball and run ./install-it.sh after installation, you can use it to right click on files in the Public folder and generate public URLs for anyone to download, not just members of Dropbox. I've already got the final packages and source of qcm2 there for the repo, waiting for Tim to get back: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9005811/qmc2.zip

Dropbox has been uploaded to CR MAIN (non-free) and will be available at next server sync.
I've actually also personally tested it - and it works really well.
Should anyone here want to try it - and also get themselves an addition 250mb on top of their existing 2Gb free - pm me your email address (one you are prepared to use for your dropbox sign-up). I then invite you to join - and once you have joined, both you and I get 250Mb free.
If I can get 8 new dropbox users to do this, I'd have 4Gb available - and it would be useful for storing source files etc for packaging - and also sharing debs.
No pressure - I'm happy enough with 2Gb - but if you want to take advantage of the extra - let me know.

Problems with service meny in dropbox
I did as stated above and I have the error "Could not find the program KDE4-config" when using the right click menu. Moving and copying files do work (still with the error message) but no copying of URL to Klipper takes part. The "Generate public URL" does not work just gives the error message.
The "Send public URL by email works" altough it opens Kmail instead of Thunderbird but that is an issu of setting the preferences right I believe.
Anybody know how to fix this? Using fully updated Mepis 8.5 with CR repo enabeled on an Aspire One.
Thanks

 Drop Box 1.0.6
Dropbox 1.0.6 is now being uploaded to MEPIS 8.5CR MAIN. Should be available at next server sync (within next 24 hours). I've already tested it on clean installs, and everything appears to be working OK.

Am I mistaken or does Warren have it in M 11 A4 by default? If yes, then we should let him know a newer version is available.

Agreed, I use it for everything from universal email access to sharing work files. Too bad that SugarSync does not have a Linux app, since they offer 5GB free storage.

Yes, version 0.8 is in the #4 alpha. I run a shared /home between the 32-bit and 64-bit alpha installs, and enabled a Dropbox account on 32-bit, then on 64-bit. When I tried to reboot 32-bit, I could not access the /home partition, and got a failure to boot. Booting back up to 64-bit, I looked at 32-bit's /etc/fstab, and found a comment:
# commented out by DropBox # /dev etc etc
Removing the comment # let the 32-bit boot again... but that was not a nice thing to do.

No. I wonder why they did that.

Re: Mepis 8.5 CR - Dropbox Thread
I've got dropbox installed in Mepis 11 (using the package already in the default repos), It looks like all of my dropbox folders are now available in Mepis 11 (working fine for syncing folders between desktops and the dropbox servers as far as I can tell).
But, I don't see any dropbox menu choices anywhere from within Dolphin (for getting public links, etc.). Does that mean I still need to install something else (as I see mention of a way to install service menus earlier in this thread, but wasn't sure if that was still the way to approach it in Mepis 11 or not)?
