Mepis 8.5 Community Repo: The Iceweasel Thread
Iceweasel 5.0 is now available in the main community repository, due to the security flaws it fixes. Have fun!
Iceweasel 3.6.13-2 (currently the stable Firefox release), backported from Debian Experimental, is now in the main test community repository. It can coexist with Brooko's Firefox3, but not the Mepis Firefox packages. The version was built with the whole load of Debian patches, and the internal test suite of the finished build was successfully completed (thousands of tests, mostly of javascript). So far, Tim and I have found no problems with it, and we can look forward to backporting new 3.6 releases, and even Iceweasel 4.
I am holding off on Iceweasel 4 for now, since many extensions won't work without some coercion, and the final release is not out yet. Please let us know how this is working, I think we could use it in main right away.
iceweasel - 3.6.13-2mcr85+1
Version: 3.6.13-2mcr85+1
Section: web
Architecture: 32bit and 64bit
Description: Icewease is a rebranding of the Mozilla Firefox browser component, similar to Galeon, K-Meleon and Camino, but written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be lightweight and cross-platform. This browser is based on the Firefox source-code, with minor modifications. Historically, this browser was previously known as Firebird and Phoenix.
