Re: The art gallery for M11.5 is open.
So far, we appear to have only 1 contributor, and there is some great work coming through. Hats off to you Henry, I wish I had the ability to do some of what you are doing, and in part I do, but being colour deficient, I purposely do not hone these skills.
I think that very far away is the only one that really says something, though I'n not sure quite what except for something far away, which makes wonder if that sould be one of the things we should be trying to achieve, a wallpaper that "tells a story" What do others think?.
If there are budding artists out there with the talent, but not the ideas, how about trying an entirely different track, a wallpaper that shouts Mepis is quality, but in a very subtle way, such as using objects that are so well polished in their appearance that they give an impression of what the user is about to experience first hand. One such example could be giving the Mepis text logo a 3D chrome or glassified effect with a high reflective quality, not necessarily making it cylindrical like a pipe, but give it some body in its structure and add it to a complimentary background, abstract or otherwise.
Example, here's a very crude Mepis done as flat chrome using Inkscape if anybody is interested

At this time Galactic Proportions and Very Far Away are my favorites. For those who can't find page one: http://www.mepiscommunity.org/wallpaper115

Warp 9 is now my top favourite. It looks stunning at full screen and the lighter blue is very refreshing. I love it.

Warp 9 is a keeper for me. Though I thought "Warp 12" may be a better name. Warp 12 equals approx : 5 billion miles per second. [ref; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warp_drive_(Star_Trek)#Warp_velocities] It is rumoured, it maybe know in future simple as Woodford 1. [Warp 12 = Woodford 1] I read it in an article on-line some where. The story may have been called something like "Warren transcends to deep space". Cheers NH
