 A lateral shift?

Hi Josk, although I see a lot of enthusiasm for metallic light here, it is simply not my cup of tea. Admire your effort but maybe I've seen too many fireworks at this time of life - all of which fizzled out after a very short time.

However i find your "hot distro" ( without our lovable but overused tux ) to be vibrant, energetic - exuding a quality that is lacking so often even acknowledging that much is in the eye of the beholder.

Now here's a challenge - I wonder if a variant of "hot distro" could be made in DARK BLUISH tones whilst still incorporating the 'energy bubbling artistic lava' with that delightful smoke rising from it.

Perhaps a shift of 'flame' to the left side? Dark blue for the really rear background with
reddish pattern subtley overlaid & the lava flame & its current reds emerging from the dark blue.

I know it would be a challenge but if the balance could be hit I reckon it could be pretty impressive. Studied art but unable to convert it to 'canvas' You however have the ability.

I tried it. Merge of red and blue was that terrible that I deleted that version.

They are, err, hot!! I'd personally be surprised if we saw a red desktop bg for M8.5/9, perhaps a blue plasma/cracked ice alternative would make it??

Truth be told, that is a _very_ exciting wallpaper.

Couldn't the community repo host a 'mepis-alt-wallpapers' package for interested users? We have such a high quality of artistic efforts here, that I would hate to see them go to waste...

Pretty sure it would be trivial to package such a thing - so now we need ~10 wallpapers to include. Just one issue - bg size/aspect ratio - it would be too much to include all sizes and ratios, so a couple of packages would be needed with different aspect ratio bg's, would be needed depending on your desktop size.
