BarrySuite now even easier to install. Sync the BlackBerry!
I've just tried the latest version of Barry Suite, the program that will sync your Linux with your BlackBerry. You can now install it via synaptic, just add "deb http://download.barry.netdirect.ca/barry-latest/ squeeze main" to your sources list. The overview is here: http://www.netdirect.ca/software/packages/barry the list of packages needed here: http://www.netdirect.ca/software/packag ... debian.phpThis program worked SO awesome! I backed up my BlackBerry, then did a sync on it. The new desktop gui accurately displayed the face of my phone on the desktop manager! Cool beans, eh? The sync went flawless, and for grins I checked out the browse data bases. I could click on my memos on my phone and open them. I'm one of those old folks that just likes to keep my data on my phone and my computer and Barry Suite let's me do that, as well as back it up. They did a great job on it this time, and installing (after I remembered to empty var/cache/apt/archives) was a snap!

Re: BarrySuite now even easier to install. Sync the BlackBer
I was quite surprise to see this working as well. I was able to get it to recognize a Pearl 8130 and back it up using the GUI. It would not perform a sync as it stated that opensync was not installed. I tried several different packages hoping it would sync, but to no avail. I was unable to locate an opensync package version 2.2 that would actually install without dependency problems. I'm using an M11 upgraded to 4.8.3/4 using wheezy.

Sounds to me like it's time to update the Wiki: http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php?title=BlackberryPlease...

you'd think they'll be able to pull it off. still a lot of BB users and agencies. it'll be interesting to see if RIM is able to recitfy their market complacency.

The same version 0.18.3 is available in Wheezy repos...we ought to try and add it to the CR.

Re: BarrySuite now even easier to install. Sync the BlackBer
Hmm, I'm using M11 also, Did you add the line to your etc/apt/sources.list? On some of the packages where there was more than one version, I did a force just to make double dog sure I got the one from the new list. I've used Barry Suite for a while now (on my 3rd BB) and this is the best version ever. I mean the others would sync contacts & calender which is what I need, but this one is the best ever. I too am hoping for BB OS10. But for those folks like me, who just want their data on their phone and their computer, I thought I should let them know that Barry Suite (I call it Berry Sweet) let's them do that with Linux. There are still some wonderful BlackBerrys out there and if it enters into a phone buying decision was just trying to let folks know, this version is wonderful!
