Post vlc 2.0 & umplayer using Roadblock Mepis 32 bit
Hi All,

First I hope this is the right place to put this. It has been awhile and now I am back with Mepis after a brief hiatus. I have just installed vlc 2.0 and I cannot get audio to work with my maudio delta 1010lt card. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Also I have installed umplayer and while it works fine it is transparent rending unusable for video (note: only gl will work and there is no video with xv selected). Both of these issues have my head scratching. Hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance.

I suppose my first question would be, how did you install VLC, and from where, because if it is from either Wheezy or Sid it is going to make a lot of changes, having said that I just upgraded a VBox install from Wheezy (VLC 2.0.0-6) with no apparent problems apart from the fact it would be a bit of a nightmare keeping everything up to date, unless you create an addition to preferences.
Umplayer, not a lot of help as all i know about it is it is a front end for mplayer.
VLC upgrade.

Post Re: vlc 2.0 & umplayer using Roadblock Mepis 32 bit
Hello Danum,

This was one of Stevo's packages in the Mepis test community repo. Umplayer was another one Stevo's contributions. Don't know if others have tried this build with the same results. This could be one that Stevo backported from Wheezy.

Thanks,

tzefanyah

Post Re: vlc 2.0 & umplayer using Roadblock Mepis 32 bit
Hello,

I removed VLC 2.0 and reverted back to the older one in the community repos. That one plays fine. But, I still have a problem that all players based on mplayer show up transparent. Could this be because of my Nvidia driver and I should revert back to the older one?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I know that for the kwin-style-oxygen-transparent, you have to add umplayer to its list of applications to not make transparent, the same for smplayer2. It comes with that setting already for smplayer. Maybe the kwin style you are using has the same setting someplace?

Hmm. Thanks Stevo I will have to scratch around and try to find that setting. I am using Eleanora instead of Oxygen.

First could not get vcl 2 to work so I had to downgrade to the one in the non-testing community repos. Second, I was able to find this setting within the window of the player itself. While it is open I noticed the transparency in the panel goes away.
