Re: M 12 alpha getting close
Okay, that's what I was thinking of. I always get the freeze and the stable release confused. All part of being a board idiot.

There should be an award.

Re: M 12 alpha getting close
The word on the street is that Wheezy's KDE will be bumped to 4.8.3 before the freeze. If that's true then it should happen fairly soon.

Re: M 12 alpha getting close
I surely do understand the excitement and I'll be glad to see Mepis 12 when it comes along. But let me add this note. I just built a new system and so I wanted a dead-bang reliable Linux with which to test it. So the choices for me were Debian Squeeze versus Mepis 11. Suffice it to say Mepis won because, like Squeeze, it meets the "dead-bang reliable" criterion and unlike Squeeze it does the nicest -- though not the newest -- KDE I have used. Those are not small virtues. If Mepis 12 can do as well and aalso score higher on the Spiffy-Index then may it prosper!

Re: M 12 alpha getting close
I've had Wheezy running here since December, and I like it. I'm really eager to see what Warren does with it.

Re: M 12 alpha getting close
Agreed. Wheezy is solid in my experience. I have it with Xfce and no problems at all. At this point I would not be surprised to learn that the mission-critical bugs involve non-Intel processors.Over the last 6 months I have had very few problems that I can recall.

Re: M 12 alpha getting close
I don't think that Stable Debian Wheezy will arrive within the next 4 months. If my memory serves me well on this: I believe that (at release time ) Stable Squeeze still had some 150 or so 'release critical bugs'. The number 500 (or even 850 or so) bugs 'still to be squashed now' seems an awful long way from the Squeeze release level....
