Post Minitube
A number of updates appeared for GKStreamer (or is it GStreamer) that removed Minitube.
Does this mean that we need an update for Minitube as well. If so can we have one, please, or maybe there is an equivalent programme out there.

Pat

Minitube will work with the gstreamer updates - I'm using it here.
Try changing Settings -> Preferences -> Distribution to prefer versions from mepis, Reload, and you should be able to install minitube.

Tried that and got message:
"Depends: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad but it is not going to be installed"

Looks like the upgraded gstreamer can't live with the above plugins version.

Any ideas what to do next, please.

What happens when you try to install gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad ?

Another thing to do is open a root Konsole terminal & try aptitude install minitube
Aptitude can sometimes figure out stuff Synaptic can't & it gives much more complete information in its error messages.

Just tried this and got the following:

"The following NEW packages will be installed:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad{a} minitube
The following packages will be REMOVED:
hplip-cups{u} kaboom{u} libdrm-nouveau1{u} libkephal4a{u} libkwineffects1a{u}
libplasmaclock4b{u} libprocesscore4b{u} libtaskmanager4b{u} libtelepathy-qt4-0{u}
libtidy-0.99-0{u} libweather-ion4a{u}
The following partially installed packages will be configured:
libcairo2 libmozjs10d libsqlite3-0 libvpx1 xulrunner-10.0
0 packages upgraded, 2 newly installed, 11 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 2,073 kB of archives. After unpacking 296 kB will be used.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-good: Conflicts: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad (< 0.10.21.2) but 0.10.19-2+b2 is to be installed.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Keep the following packages at their current version:
1) gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad [Not Installed]
2) minitube [Not Installed] "

So, to me, it looks like minitube and the latest gstreamer are completely incompatible. Shame.

I know that's not the case because I'm running minitube with the newer gstreamer.

The gstreamer updates are in the kde 4.6.5 experimental test repository. I didn't upload them anywhere else.

gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad 0.10.23-1mcr110+1 is available in that repository but it looks like aptitude wants to install the old version in stable.
Did you disable the experimental test repo after the upgrades? Check your repo list & reload just in case something got munged in the list.
If you click on the versions tab for gstream0.10-plugins-bad in in Synaptic does it show the 0.10.23-1 version?

If preferences are set to prefer versions from mepis & the experimental test repo is enabled the new gstreamer-plugins-bad should install easily.

I've just checked the repo list and the kde 4.6.5 experimental test one has gone missing.
Would you, please, give me the url etc. so I can set it up again. (I had a quick look at the mepis wiki but couldn't find it in the repo list).

Hopefully this should solve the problem.

Thanks

As you see it in Synaptic:
Code:
http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/kde/
experimental
test
or as seen in /etc/apt/sources.list:
Code:
deb http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/kde/ experimental test

Post Re: Minitube  [Solved]
I added the repo, upgraded to gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad 0.10.23-1mcr110+1 and minitube is up and running again.

Thank you once more.
