Post Mepis 11 Community Repo: The KEC Thread
I've been messing around with this kde-service-menu-extract-and-compress package, and added KEC: in front of the Compress menus to tell them apart from the Ark menus. I also added an option to create tar.lzma files, but it seems that option, at least in the M11 version of tar, actually creates tar.xz files instead of true tar.lzma ones.

This is a work in progress...but I'll tinker some more with it, or anyone else is welcome to hack away at it as they wish.

I just put any new or modified scripts/desktop files in the debian directory, the /debian/install file will handle the updating over the original ones.

Post Re: Mepis 11 Community Repo: The KEC Thread
An mcr110+7 version is now in the test repo; the change is now that it uses a backported pixz (pronounced "pixie") for mutithreaded xz compression. Pxz will no longer used and can be uninstalled if desired. Unlike pxz, pixz does not use temp files and also creates an indexed archive. It's set in the servicemenu scripts to use the maximum (-9) compression settings.

Pixz can also do mutlithreaded xz decompression, but I can't figure out how to have it to see an xz file as one that can be decompressed. I may have to look to see how the Ark .desktop files handle those.
