 Re: Lost internet connection
Is there a Windows driver listed on the Troubleshooting tab? If yes, please remove it, blacklist NdisWrapper and reboot again.

 Re: Lost internet connection
I would love to blame that on them and my wife has had problems getting her email through them the last couple days. So, it might be something related to them. However, I am setting here on a laptop and connected to the internet through their modem wirelessly and my wife has been able to connect using the ethernet connection through the same hub that my mepis box is connected to. It could be a problem with them as it did happen very abruptly but, all indicators do not point the same way. big sigh!

 Re: Lost internet connection
Ok, did that too and it sees the ethernet conection but doesn't connect. When I click on the ethernet icon on the task bar it says that there is 'no ip address.' Yet if I click on the edit connection tab the ip address shows up there. In mepis network manager, if I run the diagnosis tab and enter the ip address into the box and push 'start' , it says 10 packets transmitted (listing them) and 10 received 0% packet loss but the thing just will not connect.

OK. The other choice is to replace the r8169 driver with the r8168, since there are a number of posts that the latter is a much better driver for your chipset. Here are the links I found: http://djlab.com/2010/10/fixing-rtl8111 ... an-ubuntu/http://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/Instal ... ork_driverIs that something you would feel comfortable with?

 Re: Lost internet connection
The command input doesn't look too crazy but, how will my system connect to get the other driver? Do I download it onto the laptop and then burn to cd 1st? I guess I am confused too that this was all working properly and just went fritz yesterday afternoon. Why would that driver work for the last couple months and then go fritz?

 Re: Lost internet connection
That's a good question. Backing up, did you already try connecting manually? As root: Another simple effort: install ceni (my go-to app in difficult situations) and try it.

 Re: Lost internet connection
You can download ceni on another computer, then bring it on a stick using as root the attached script generated by Synaptic.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

 Re: Lost internet connection
No, I thought you had M11, which is what that version of ceni is for. What do you have?
