I upgraded flashplayer-mozilla through Synaptic. It brought in kde-config-flash-player as a dependency. No more Youtube. I uninstalled both and installed flashplugin-non free. Everything works. What's wrong with the flashplayer-mozilla upgrade?

I did the same thing earlier today with no issues. Youtube still plays fine.

If I right click on a video, it shows a menu choice labeled "About Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.228", and if I click on that, I go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and it also shows that version is installed.

Did you restart Firefox after installing the latest version, in case that has something to do with it?

I don't know if it's necessary or not. But, I always close Firefox when updating Flash (and I did that earlier today, too).

Here's what I see in Synaptic for those packages (I upgraded Flash today from the multimedia repos after noticing an article about a new version):

Since I am using "flashplugin-nonfree" I get "You have version 11,1,102,63 installed". Yup, I restarted Firefox etc... I'll try again today. Maybe something didn't get upgraded?
Update:
Just tried it. Same deal, flashplayer-mozilla doesn't work, but flashplugin-nonfree does. I'm using the Firefox version "firefox-12.0b1.tar.bz2" from Mozilla not the repos. Since flash works with flashplugin-nonfree I'm going to stop worrying about it. Thanks for the suggestions.

LOL! I'm running the Firefox Beta. It was so flawless I forgot.

I'm using Firefox 11.0 from the community repos, and the flashplayer-mozilla package from the debian-multimedia.org repos works fine for me.

But, since you're now using the flashplugin-nonfree package instead, I think you can run this from konsole to update your flash player to the latest version from Adobe (and I'd close Firefox first):

I switched back to Firefox 11 and reinstalled flashplayer-mozilla. Works fine. It was Beta 12 that was the problem. Thanks again.

I am having a problem downloading flash on mepis 11 I get the following errors from sysnaptic.

for flashplayer mozilla I get the below error

Failed to fetch http://www.debian-multimedia.org/pool/n ... 0_i386.deb Hash Sum mismatch

and for flashplugin-nonfree i get


ERROR: sha512sum rejected install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz

Having just recently upgraded flash on both my systems I know the command Stevo mentioned works. I use the following variation (from another post by Stevo btw):

If that still doesn't work, my suggestion would be to disable the Debian Multimedia Repo through Synaptic, click the reload button, close Synaptic, and then try the command again. From the little information I found on the subject on Google it seems to point to a problem with the checksum on the Multimedia Repo when a newer version of Flash is released. It happened to a few people going from version 10 to 10.1, the info I found is here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=592598 Thus, when you try installing 11.2 with the above command, it is checking the sha512sum against an older version (say 11.1) hosted on the Multimedia Repo and you are receiving that error. This should eventually resolve itself if you want to wait.

So, it is only a guess, but I would try disabling the Multimedia Repo and then trying Stevo's command again. If it doesn't work, then I'm wrong about my hypothesis.
