 Accessing additionalHard DiscsI have three HDDs, and I'm running Mepis 11.
sda has all the Mepis stuff and much else. sdb and sdc I hoped to use for storage of data, there already being some data on them from previous linux OS's. Both HDDs are partitioned into three partitions. I can read all the files in sdb and sdc, but cannot write to them. On looking in KDE Partition Manager I see their mount points are /mnt/sdb1 etc., but this is prefixed by the locked padlock symbol, so I guess that currently I do not have write permission for any of these. The question is, how do I change the partitions to give me full write access?  |

 Re: Accessing additionalHard DiscsLook in your fstab file for an ro notation on those hard disks. That's in /etc/fstab. change the ro to rw (as root) and save. You'll need to reboot.

Re: Accessing additionalHard Discs Thank you. There was no reference in fstab to ro relating to these HDDs.
I went to /mnt, and had to alter permissions to allow Others to modify content, and that gave me the access I needed. I was surprised the just allowing Group this access didn't do the trick though. |

Re: Accessing additionalHard Discs I'm not sure how Permissions get messed up but this isn't the first time by a long shot. Glad you're up and running.

I find this as well. Every now and then I have to go to /dev and change the permissions on my windows partition back so I can access it as user while in M11. |
