[SOLVED] - Mepis 11 Help for two issues after install.
I've installed Mepis 11 on my USB Hard Drive. So far it's NICE and works wonderful. I do have two issues I need a bit of help with.
1. I installed gtkterm and it's in my Menu, but there is no ICON associated with the Menu Selection. How do I add the Serial Terminal ICON so it displays with the Menu entry? I've attached a screen capture of that Menu Item.
2. I prefer Gparted, and I've also installed it. But when I try to run it from the Menu Selection, it doesn't execute. I can make it run in a terminal if I become root. I've added my loginuser in the /etc/sudoers file. But, I now need to add sudo to the Menu Entry to allow Gparted to execute. How do I do that?
Thanks.
Larry

Re: Mepis 11 Help for two issues after install.
For number 2 you need to right-click on the Mepis/Start icon and choose Menu Editor. Navigate to the GParted entry and left-click it. Click the Advanced tab. Enable the Run as a different user by clicking the check box. Close the Menu Editor. You may need to restart the xserver but I don't think it's necessary. Mepis uses a true su rather than sudo.
For the number 1 query just open the Menu Editor, navigate to the GParted entry and left-click it. On the General tab click on the little icon in the upper right area and that will open up the choices for icons that you have installed.
PS: I have an icon associated with GParted without intervention. How did you install it?
PPS: I see by your screenshot that you have an icon associated with GParted. If you want an icon somewhere else then open the menu and right-click the GParted entry and choose Add to Desktop or Add to Panel (or the Favorites I suppose).

lucky; gtkterm is the icon he is missing. Regarding root: The wiki ( http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php? ... un_as_root) has: Compared the method you mentioned (also kind of mentioned in the wiki), are there any pros or cons? Cheers

luck9/chatan, AH, I didn't realize that Menu Editor existed.
I found that gparted had gksu versus kdesu. I changed it to kdesu and all is well for problem #1.
And for problem #2 I just added the utility-terminal.svg for the proper Icon.
That takes care of both issues.
Thanks.
