Bottom as thin a possible, I have a good ergonomic reason, windows have controls (close, minimize, resize, shade, keep on top, pin) on top by keeping the bar on the bottom makes it easier to pick with the mouse the window controls, I just move the mouse up and don't care how far I go while if I had a toolbar on top I would have had to stop the mouse movement short of reaching the toolbar. So basically I transform a 2 directional mouse movement in almost one directional move.

Bottom 86%

I find i open Gimp and pull the windows down to far often, so I always had to go about moving the taskbar... Tried hidding the taskbar, I would end up with the same problem but then fighting the taskbar for Gimp window sizing. I presume there are a dozen different solution, or command to make this easier, but the simple solution became habit and it is controlable with the space on the left and right.

This may not happen to others, but I do require this procedure, what seems like a dozen times a day when using the computer...

I used Norton Commander with DOS and it's "task bar" was at the bottom. When I switched to Windows 95 it forced it to the top, which was a bit tough to get use to. So there it stays to this day.

My taskbar is 85% long, centered at the screen bottom. I discovered I could change the size from Large to Normal and still see everything on it. So I did. I also discovered if I make it even smaller, it's just so hard to right click on a blank area of the taskbar to get "Configure Panel", I don't wanna do that. I haven't played with the other panel or taskbar options. I like the taskbar buttons just the way they are. As you can probably tell, my monitor is on the small side.

I have my task bar at the top. It saves a lot of movement of your mouse cursor especially when you are multi-tasking and collecting a bunch of data from different sources.
