I can understand wanting to give a basic overview or MEPIS specific comments, but since Dolphin is generic to KDE4 why don't we just refer to the official Docs ( i.e. Dolphin Handbook:) after that overview.
Otherwise the wiki page might just become a clone of the Handbook. Maybe nothing wrong with that, but it seems we have a hard enough time getting help with documentation.
My two cents!
Cheers

Because there is not an official Dolphin hand book for KDE 4.3. The link is for 4.4, and there some differences.

 breadcrumbs
Per your request, I added a wee bit to the section about breadcrumbs, which i took from the KDE website. AFAIK they don't do much, so I find it hard to say a lot about them. Basically the "breadcrumbs" feature is a display gimmick that turns each directory in the file path into a clickable link. Nice, maybe even useful, but not a feature that enhances my file management powers in any radical way.
People who favour point&click over keyboard input may like it, and it could speed things up for some folks. Since I prefer to keep a "folder view" of my directory tree in the left volumn of my file manager, it's a redundant feature for me, since each directory in my current path is already "clickable."

In general, the KDE4 documentation is pretty bad at this point.

Not for the current release which is 4.4 it is improving every day, by way of a change.

It must depend on the eye of the observer, then, b/c the documentation writers for kde-pim complain about it all the time.
