Ghost Activity

#1 Postby sdbingm » Mon Mar 07, 2011 2:58 pm

I have been using multiple activities under KDE 4.x since 4.2. I am currently using M11B2 with KDE 4.5.3. Recently I've noticed a ghost image when I activate my desktop cube. I appears to be a 'folderview' with several broken icons. It has the effect of turning the wallpaper of the desktop it's behind greenish.

I have looked through the config files and can't find an extra containment. I even removed the config files and rebuild me activities and it still appears.

The link below shows my cube, if you look closely you can see the ghost image.

Any ideas?

The cube is transparent and you are seeing the desktop on the other side of the cube.

Then I am not sure what I am seeing, as it still looks it to me. But I do not know your desktop as you do, so I am most likely mistaken.

Looking at 2nd screeny. Blue Wallpaper looks transparent and is catching reflection of back of other desktop of cube. I don't use compiz or cubes but if me. I would try a more nontransparent wallpaper to see if ghost image goes away or if you know how to set transparency for cube. Fix that.

@ sdbingm

Those icons sure look like the same desktop icons in this photo: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19142735/m11desktop1.png

Not if you read the labels. I can't read the top two as they're obscured, but from there down they're labeled:

Code: Select all

Documents
Dolphin as su
FireFox
MEPIS Manual
Trash
trash.desktop
I wonder if that's a folder view of some folder on the system...

Tim, I don't know what you're looking at, he drew a circle around 3 icons, the same 3 icons in the first row of the picture I posted a link to.

I can't find another folderview in the config file: /home/Stephen/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc

Here is another look at exactly what I'm looking at.
