Post Grub Splash Image
I would like to change the Grub splash image in Mepis 11. I have tried various tutorials / web sites but none of the directions have helped so far. Could someone please give me step by step instructions on how to accomplish this task?

I for one am having a problem with you post, grub-splash or Mepis splashy is not yet in Mepis 11.0, you maybe referring to the splash screen that appears after you login ?

You can install desktop-base and get the Debian theme and you will get new kdm themes, splash-screens and wallpaper to play with, all these can be changed using Systemsettings.

I am referring to what is known as the GRUB Splash Image.it is the screen that cones up just after Grub appears that usually contains the current kernel info, recovery mode, occasionally memtest and a few other items. Lasts but a few seconds. This is image that is used as the background of your grub menu.

Here's the manual for making a new Grub screen. It was used for M8.5.

For a grub splash in Mepis 11, I don't think that Utopia's M8.5 method will work because it uses splashy.

I think you need to use plymouth with Mepis 11. Check this thread out: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=29591&p=262104&hilit=plymouth#p262104

Post Re: Grub Splash Image
Thank you all for your advice, however I seem to not have made myself clear.
The image that I wish to change is the first image that comes up after "Grub Loading stage 2". It is the image where the first line says "Mepis at sda1..." and at the bottom of the screen it says "Boot options...."
Thanks in advance for your kind help.

Stop calling it splash and people will be clear on what you mean.
There is no splash involved with the grub menu screen you want to change.
