Post MEPIS 8.0 Community Repo: The Wine Thread
Update 7 Sept 2011: Wine 1.3.27 is now in testing CR. It requires and should autoinstall a newer wine-gecko based on Firefox 6 (wine-gecko-1.3.0)

Update 13 July 2011: Latest release 1.3.24 now in testing, 1.3.23 in main.

update 14 June 2011: 1.3.22 now in main testing.

After a hiatus, new builds of the development branch of Wine, 1.3, are now available in the testing repository, as well as a previous version in the main CR. Currently we have 1.3.18 in testing, please let us know how it's working if you try it.

Thanks!

Works OK for the only app I use Quicken 2009 Premier.

I did get one error when installing

Code:
debconf: (Unable to load QtCore -- is libqtcore4-perl installed?)

libqtcore4-perl is installed.

Have you tried installing the 'dev package/s for that pearl package or pearl itself? Sometimes that makes a difference.

I have not checked if they are installed.

Edit: I do not see a dev package and perl is installed. However there are many perl support packages. I do not want to install all of them as most, if any, undoubtedly do not have any bearing on the issue.

There's another thread where the poster says that message appears on all the installs for any package. I don't see it, but I have libqt4gui-perl also installed. Kmathern suggested running

Code:
su -c 'dpkg-reconfigure -plow debconf'

and setting to use readline by default, since that's what Synaptic falls back to anyway.

Bump:

Bump: Wine 1.3.21 is in the main testing repo. New in this release:

Support for installation rollbacks in MSI.
8- and 16-bit bitmap formats in the DIB engine.
Fixes in the XInput2 mouse support.
Better support for text shaping in Uniscribe.
Improvements to the Item common dialog.
More MSVC runtime functions.
Various bug fixes.

I'm sure that means something to somebody...

Steve

Bump: 1.3.27 in main, 1.3.28 in testing. 1.3.28 actually has a visible change in wineconfig in that it has automagic audio driver selection, so any choice between alsa, oss, etc. is gone. Let's see if this works.
