Re: Mepis 8.5 CR - wine Thread
Should be there at the update in six or seven hours - around 1930 EDT (2330 UTC) - maybe a bit later because a couple large packages are uploading this evening.
I discovered a regression in one of the programs I use occasionally with wine. I hadn't used it for a while so hadn't noticed when it happened. The last time I had used this app was with wine 1.3.23 and the next version (1.3.25) was the first that required wine-gecko 1.3.0 so I delayed moving that to main long enough to see if it was the wine version or the wine-gecko version that was the issue. Turns out it was the wine, and I've locked my desktop version at 1.3.23 for now. That one works properly for me whether wine-gecko is 1.3.0 or 1.2.0.
Wine is a wonderful tool, but the way it's developed leads to periodic regressions. This isn't the first time I've had to lock a version for a while. Fortunately they always seem to get fixed.

I personally have never encountered a regression with the several apps I use, but in deference to what you are saying I always keep several older copies around for a while.

Re: Mepis 8.5 CR - wine Thread
Regressions in wine are usually in the less popular programs. A regression in MS Office, Final Fantasy IX or World of Warcraft will be caught before release and fixed. A regression in Paint Shop Pro 4.x, allTunes, or Pikachu Volleyball might not be noticed for some time...

. Funny you would mention Paint Shop Pro. PSP 8 only recently started working, but I'm not sure with which wine update because it's been a while since I tried it. Previously, it would install, but would not run.
PSP8's companion, Animation Shop, still locks up and has to be killed.

Wine 1.3.30 is now in the main testing repo. It will not migrate to main if it show the screen redrawing problems for some applications that recent version have developed.

Re: Mepis 8.5 CR - wine Thread
Bump: 1.5.10 is now in testing repository. It requires a new wine-gecko1.7 package, based on Firefox 14, which has also been assembled and is in the testing repo. If you upgrade to this version of wine, you can uninstall other versions of wine-gecko, unless you're using older versons of wine in "wine-bottles", such as what playonlinux installs.
