Re: New Wallpaper: Deep Blue Mepis Edition
It's easy to get more grain than you have asked for when using Gimp. Each manipulation adds more. If the wallpapers are created in the color that is intended, you have more control of the end result. There are filters for smoothing but they all leave their distinctive marks. Henry

Re: New Wallpaper: Deep Blue Mepis Edition
One of the things most are forgetting is WW has said 11.5 will use Grub2. so now is the time to look at grub backgrounds, the only thing is the size, the corner-blue come out at 316.0 KiB when reduced to 640x480, where as the default debian is 30.3, the bigger it is in size the longer it takes to load. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/53792173/grub-edit11.pnghttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/53792173/mepis-debian.png

Re: New Wallpaper: Deep Blue Mepis Edition
Danum, check this one out and see what you think. It's not quite the 30.3 but it weighs in at a lot less than the 316.0 KiB that you came up with. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3787230/grub-edit12.png

Re: New Wallpaper: Deep Blue Mepis Edition
It's easy to simplify the grub boot screen enough to make it fit the requirements. The grub boot screen for M 8.5 was only 58.6 KiB at 800x600. And it was based on a very complicated wallpaper with lots of gradients everywhere. Could have been made smaller if it had been necessary. Will probably be more of an artistic problem than a technical. Henry

Re: New Wallpaper: Deep Blue Mepis Edition
I think this background could work in blue, but right now it works better in red. Some of the elements of the image that are fine in red just don't look right in the first attempt at blue. For instance, the solid color surrounding the words and logo, and the texture of the background. Not being an artist, all I can think of is that it might not be best to convert a red version to a blue one.
Keep trying, please.-)
