 Re: Fresh install question
9.0.1 is not in the CR but it is in the Mepis main repo.

 Re: Fresh install question
Using M11 / Firefox 9, I've used the above sequence of changes, to try opening Firefox from Thunderbird weblinks. If Firefox is not already open, nothing happens when clicking on a Thunderbird web-link.
If on the other hand, Firefox is already open, when clicking on a web-link in Thunderbird, Firefox will open a 2nd tab and display the link.
Any ideas how I can resolve this bug please?

 Re: Fresh install question
Are you using Warren's Firefox 9 package? The cli command below will show which version of the firefox package is installed, if you're not sure post the results of it. I never was able to get thunderbird to correctly open url email links in firefox with the firefox installed by Warren's FF9 package. Back in January the solution I suggested was to install Stevo's FF9 package from the Mepis 8.5 CR repo. At this time I would recommend installing FF11 from the Mepis 11.0 CR testrepo instead of FF9.

Its a pity Firefox and Thunderbird aren't available from Mozilla in deb fromat. Thanks

That is Warren's FF9 package that's installed. You can install Stevo's FF11 package by enabling the M11 CR testrepo. It should already be in your sources.list, but disabled. In Synaptic goto Settings -> Repositories and look for the repo entry shown below. In the default sources.list it's the next to last entry. Enable it by clicking the checkbox on the left. If you don't have the entry I'm showing, add it. URI: http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/testrepo/ Distribution: mepis11cr Section(s): test Reload repos and then mark only the firefox package for upgrade. After firefox has been upgraded to FF11 I would go back in to Settings -> Repositories and uncheck the testrepo and reload repos again.

 Re: Fresh install question
Added the repository but the upgrade to Firefox 11 isn't there, only a locale-en and Gnome support file for Firefox are available.

 Re: Fresh install question
Stevo's Firefox 11 is in the repo you added. It might not be showing up as an upgrade because of how pinning is set in /etc/apt/preferences or /etc/apt/apt.conf. In Synaptic try going to Settings -> Preferences. Click on the "Distribution" tab and set it to "Prefer versions from: mepis".

 Re: Fresh install question
All done, Thunderbird links are now opening Firefox - many thanks.
What's the issue with the earlier release just out of interest?

 Re: Fresh install question
I wish I knew! It's something that Debian does to Firefox when they make it into Iceweasel--Warren's is the Debian Iceweasel except renamed back to Firefox--so it's something in the Debian patches or the install procedure. The version in the CR is a rebuilt Ubuntu-sourced Firefox with all the Ubuntu-specific stuff pruned out. I use the Ubuntu version since
A. I can get it to build on both M11 and M8.5, unlike Iceweasel. B. It automatically generates all the language packs during the build, which saves a lot of work. C. The sources usually are available before Iceweasel's. D. Clicking on links just works.
