Will the pupil surpass the master?
Has anyone else noticed that antiX is catching up to Mepis on Distrowatch? Over six months Mepis is now at 39 and antiX is at 46.
Good show anticapitalista!

I did notice it, and I feel very happy because I'm both a MEPIS and an antiX user. Good job Anticapitalista!

It doesn't surprise me, antiX is a great distribution.

Re: Will the pupil surpass the master?
My guess -- and that's all it is -- is the increased interest is due to more and more XP grade machines being obsoleted and people are looking for ways to keep them usable.

Re: Will the pupil surpass the master?
I'm running antiX (M12-test2) too, on my quad core desktop-testsystem. antiX runs very fine, along with (64bits) M11.0.12, Kubuntu 11.10. Debian KDE Testing, Mepis Roadblock-B, Siduction 11.1 and Mint KDE 12. I installed and upgraded KDE to 4.7.4 and the default kernel to version 3.3.1-antix1-smp. Very fast and very snappy.
I do however get an error message [popup] about a missing Soprano plugin, presumably needed for Nepomuk. I just ignore it.....:-)
It's an excellent distro! Well done

Re: Will the pupil surpass the master?
All that Antix needs now is a 64-bit version and a little more publicity about its ability to scale up to almost anything you want it to be. If it was available in 64-bit, I would be using it instead of Mepis.

Re: Will the pupil surpass the master?
Thanks for all the positives.
antiX-64-bit has been discussed in previous posts, but without a bigger dev team, it is unlikely to happen. Also, I should mention, antiX has been moving away from MEPIS for a while now and the latest version (undergoing testing) is 99.8% Debian Testing, 0.199999% antiX and the rest is MEPIS. ie next to nothing, in reality it is only the (adapted) installer.

Re: Will the pupil surpass the master?
And to be fair, beside the quality of the distro, one important factor is how accessible is the maintainer...
