Re: Mepis Roadblock KDE 4:4.8.1 release update
I have a beta version of it running in a VM and it is looking good. Will do a clean install as soon as I get a copy.

Is there going to be a 64 bit version in the pipeline?

Re: Mepis Roadblock KDE 4:4.8.1 release update
KDE 4:4.8.1 looking forward to a 32 and 64 bit Live DVD experience.
The KDE 4:4.7.4 runs well as a live DVD, and as an install in both of my aging AMD Quads (2.9. & 3.0) not over clocked. Both of these whiteboxes run ATI Video, and they booted with up with the correct 16:9 rato on 1080 monitors.
When they are avaiable please post download link, or torrent...

I'm eager to try it. Hopefully, with this update I will be able to get desktop effects running on my Toshiba NB-100.

Re: Mepis Roadblock KDE 4:4.8.1 release update
Down loaded the 32-bit 4: 4.8.1, burned a DVD and could not use the AUFS boot, it fails to load, to many errors to list...
Was able to boot using the default option and it has a different desktop image than Mepis 11, easy change. I could not find a way to use the old style menu, will try right clicking on the mepis icon next time and see if it will let me use the much faster menu system.
I never liked the very slow "Vista - Win7 Style" menu, or maybe Vista and Win7 copied the KDE style menu, either way it is slow requiring to far many clicks, or desktop icons (personalization preference nothing to do with the fine remaster Danum released quickly)...
I use a desktop computers 99.99% of the time, and take my AntiX/Mepis Laptop with me when i leave the home, but use it only on occasion. When i go via the bike most of the time I find the Laptop to heavy for my messenger bag. So I have not tested wireless connection.
Again thank you Danum, for this quick release, I am certain it will let a number of people test their newer hardware, and experiment since companies with their head in the sand, still produce M$ only hardware...

Re: Mepis Roadblock KDE 4:4.8.1 release update
Great to see this remaster with KDE 4.8! I've upgraded to KDE 4.6 a few months ago using the community KDE repo and was planning to go the same route for 4.7. But now I'm doubting if reinstalling with this remaster isn't a better idea. What do you think? Will I still be able to use the community repos with this remaster? Will I have a system that's just as stable as what I have now, M11 + KDE 4.6? (Or M11 + KDE 4.7?) Any other differences or important points I should take note of? Where can I download the ISO? (Sorry if I missed the url somewhere!) Edit: woops, found more information and download url here. Do I understand correctly that I will basically be running a Wheezy/testing system? I'm not sure if that's what I want, I think I'd rather enjoy the stabililty of Squeeze/stable. ;-) Any thoughts/suggestions welcome!

I have been running it in a VM ever since it came out without any big problems.

Testing is testing software pure and simple. But normally this late in the testing cycle things are fairly stable, but they're not Stable.
